Doing Your Bit!
TetraPak Recycling

We are committed to increasing the level of carton recycling in the UK with the aim of reaching a 10% post-consumer recycling rate and widespread collection across the country via a number of different collection schemes e.g. kerbside or bring-bank collection, by 2008. In the UK, local authorities and industry have made great strides in improving general recycling rates but carton collection and recycling still lag well behind European levels.

To address this problem, we have actively worked with other carton manufacturers and the paper industry since 2003 to improve the availability of carton recycling in the UK.

Through the Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment UK (ACE UK), formerly known as the Liquid Food Carton Manufacturers Association (LFCMA), Tetra Pak and its industry partners have invested significant funds into developing carton recycling capacity in the UK.

The challenge now is to promote post-consumer carton collection schemes with local authorities and community recycling networks.

The RealCycle Network - About Us

ABOUT US

RealCycle connects people who have unwanted reusable items with people who need them. The mission in hand is to help reduce the 1000's of tonnes of reusable goods that end up in landfills and incinerators every year.

This is an easy way to reduce the clutter in your home and help someone else at the same time. Clear out your cupboards, attics, sheds and garages with minimal effort. Working or easily repairable white goods, such as refrigerators and washing machines can be passed on to someone else if you are upgrading your own. Simply post details of your unwanted item on your local group and then arrange for whoever wants it to come and collect it.

By using realCycle, not only are you able to get rid of your item with the minimum of fuss; you will also be doing your part in stopping another reusable item ending up in a landfill and, at the same time, helping someone in your community by gifting them the item you no longer need.

We hope that everyone will follow the 3 simple rules of Reducing, Reusing and Recycling. This will help make the planet a little healthier, happier and safer for our future families.
